Martin Poulter : Director of Chambers People

Martin started in the legal profession in 1977 as a junior clerk, then later became a successful Senior Barristers' Clerk and Chambers Director. He has experience of all aspects of running a barristers' chambers - diary and practice management, financial management, business development and marketing, staff, compliance and business administration.

This varied experience has been key in the success of Chambers People, started in 2002. 

 

Former Senior Clerk, Chambers Director and experienced administrator. Elaine is now assisting with Chambers People staff recruitment projects, providing advice to clients and candidates. 

Former barristers clerk and marketing assistant in a leading chambers’ in Lincoln’s Inn, Clare is now assisting Martin Poulter with financial administration at Chambers People. 

Alan recently joined Chambers People as a consultant to assist with various projects and business development initiatives.

Alan retired in summer 2016 after over 40 years as Senior Clerk at

Five Paper Buildings, Temple. Alan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Chambers People

Mike Harris, provides clerking and fees clerking services, advice and staff training, to barristers chambers across the country. Mike is a former senior clerk at a chambers in Birmingham, who is now a leading consultancy authority on fee systems for chambers, and partners Martin Poulter in the Chambers Fees arm of the business.

Anne is a highly experienced HR professional and trainer who works and consults in conjunction with Chambers Training. Providing specific and bespoke training workshops and sessions for barristers and chambers in England and Wales on a range of topics. 

Mark is our newest member of the consultant team. He is an experienced former Senior Clerk, having clerked both in London and Cambridge for over 20 years. In addition Mark set up and operated a Legal Services Company for 15 years. Mark now specialises in fee collection negotiation and recovery work operating remotely using Meridian or BarSquared Lex software.

Amanda is an experienced former Senior Clerk, who has worked with chambers in Southampton, Guildford and London. Amanda provides consultancy and training to staff in Fees work in various chambers, and provides remote access billing and fee recovery services using Meridian or BarSquared Lex software - Crime (Prosecution or Defence) or Family Graduated Fees.

Lynda is an experienced Information Management, Data Protection and Information Security consultant, who can provide advice to the administrative personnel and members of chambers. Lynda, whose husband is former senior clerk, has extensive knowledge of the information handled in the justice system. Lynda has over 25 years’ experience as a court clerk and senior taxing officer in the Crown Court, County Court and Family Court and as an Information Management, Data Protection and Information Assurance Consultant to the Home Office, the Ministry of Justice, and latterly in the National Crime Agency.
