FEES CLERKS ARE AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THE RUNNING OF A BARRISTERS' CHAMBERS
Salaries often start at £25,000 rising to £30,000 - £35,000 or more with experience.
Fees clerks process the fees for the work done by the barristers, and also assist in the collection of the fees earned.
IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY A FEES CLERK IN A CHAMBERS then if you have not already registered with Chambers People, we would like to hear from you.
Fees Clerks for fee "creation" - particularly in those chambers that specialise in Crime and Family Law - are especially needed. The current Graduated Fees Scheme is complex, and a trained person, who understands the regulations, is an important asset to chambers.
A good Fees Clerk who can think clearly, and maximise the income of the barrister with intelligent ussage of the computer system, whether it is Meridian, Inquisitalaw or Barsquared/Lex, will be very popular!
If you are a Diary Clerk at the moment, but considering a change of career direction, then you might like to think about becoming a Fees Clerk - either for Data Entry or Credit Control, or both.
Some chambers only require a PART-TIME Credit Control Clerk as the computer systems generally send out the reminder fee notes, and so a more active Credit Control role is not a full time post - but it very much depends on the size of the chambers and the work undertaken.
