Our client is a new type of Barristers’ Chambers that is located in Gray’s Inn with members that have established practices in commercial litigation, company, construction, property, estates and sports law. They primarily provide full circle legal services on both contentious and non-contentious matters directly for businesses, professionals and high net worth individuals. They also accept instructions on referral from solicitors in the traditional manner.

To assist with their structured expansion they now require a Business Development Clerk, who will be specifically responsible for the promotion and development of Chambers workload across its practice areas. 

This role would suit someone with a minimum of 5 years clerking experience preferably in a commercial law chambers. The candidate would have had experience of practice development work on behalf of barristers, and ideally, knowledge and interest in all sports, particularly football.

Duties will be varied and focused on identifying target contacts and promoting the specific skills of individual barristers, as well as general administration when necessary.

Candidates must not be set in their ways and should be IT literate. They should have a good clear speaking voice, a smart professional appearance, friendly manner, be very flexible, innovative and forward thinking.

Remuneration will be circa £30,000, plus a performance related bonus. 

The intention is that the successful candidate will start in post in February 2017 or sooner depending on the candidate’s availability.
