Employment Opportunities Summary

  • Our client chambers are making many staff redundant as we approach the end of the period of government furlough financial support that employers have been receiving.

  • As most barristers have not been able to work in the courts for many months, they have earned very little and in some cases nothing at all.

  • Barristers pay a percentage or levy of their income to their chambers for the operational and running costs including staff.

  • If the barristers have not been earning money, chambers also has had no money coming in.

  • Chambers rely on income from the barristers to pay for staff etc. so redundancies have become inevitable.

  • However, in order to survive, chambers need to provide services to their clients and their barrister members.

  • The courts are re-opening so barristers will start earning money for appearances again.

  • We are confident that our client chambers will have to take on staff when their finances are more stable. Things will change!

We advise you to visit the Chambers People website from time to time to see whether we have posted new opportunities for employment in client chambers.

In the meantime, stay safe, and please keep in contact.
