Junior Barristers’ Clerk required for busy Cardiff Barrister’s Chambers - Salary up to c £35,000
30 Park Place, Cardiff, are seeking a Junior Clerk to join their Family Law clerking team.

The Role
As Trainee Clerk, you will play a key role in supporting the Family Law team, acting as a central point of contact to ensure the smooth progression of matters.
You will liaise regularly with barristers, solicitors, clients, and third parties, often managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Providing day-to-day support to barristers and solicitors
Communicating confidently and professionally via telephone, email, and in person
Managing competing priorities and deadlines in a busy office environment
Building and maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders
Handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
Managing enquiries from solicitors, clients, and third parties, ensuring accurate records are maintained
Entering and managing instructions, case papers, and notes on the case management system
Managing barristers’ diaries, including court listings, venues, and timings
Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including the BSB Handbook, AML procedures, conflicts, and complaints processes
Assisting with fee quotes, billing, and fee chasing as directed by senior clerks
Recording and escalating fee disputes where required
Deputising for clerks during periods of absence (as agreed)
Supporting inter-team cooperation to ensure efficient service delivery
Assisting with seminars, talks, and marketing activities
Presenting a professional image at all times
Undertaking any other reasonable duties to support the practice management function
About You
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience within Family Law, particularly Legal Aid matters, is desirable
Confident and professional telephone manner
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
Able to thrive in a busy office and adapt to changing priorities
Professional, proactive, and detail-oriented
IT literate and comfortable using case management systems
Keen to build a long-term career in legal clerking or practice management
A strong team player with a positive and hardworking attitude
What’s on Offer
Salary up to circa £35,000 (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 6:00pm, or as required)
