Chambers People consultant Amanda White has been working with the Legal Aid Agency (LAA)

Updated: Jun 23, 2021

Chambers People consultant Amanda White has been working with the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) utilising their Provider Improvement Tool.

The tool is used by caseworkers within the LAA to build and support collaborative working between the LAA and external providers and to identify constructive feedback to help.

An LAA caseworker said of Amanda's use of the tool:

"I have processed two claims for counsel under FAS today. In both instances, the documents uploaded were exactly what we needed and the court orders were highlighted at the relevant points. This made processing the claim really quick and easy. This is great to see as it really helps to make a caseworker's job easier where claims and supporting documents are uploaded in such fashion with court orders highlighted at the relevant points. It also means we are able to process more claims quickly."

Amanda commented: "It is great to have received this feedback and highlights where we can make the job of the caseworker easier by using good practice and incorporating supporting procedures."

Amanda White of Chambers Fees regularly trains Fees Clerking staff in chambers across England and Wales and has over 30 years of experience.

She provides advice on Billing Fees and sometimes has to make representations to the LAA on behalf of barristers clients.

The Legal Aid Agency is an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in the United Kingdom. It provides both civil and criminal legal aid and advice in England and Wales.
